The Lost Hearing Aide, an elder care story
The Lost Hearing Aide
This afternoon Dad advised me that he had lost his left hearing aide.
He had taken it out of his ear and put it in his coat pocket…to use the phone.
As I asked about the coat, he turned UP his right hearing aid which was buzzing quite loud.
I asked him to turn it down.
He did… The buzzing continued.
I asked him to turn it off.
He did.. The buzzing continued.
Noticing my excitement, he paid “close attention”.
” I STILL HEAR BUZZING ” I said, “It’s here….I CAN HEAR IT.
Duuuh?
‘ I STILL HEAR A BUZZZZ.”
“THERE’S A HEARING AIDE AROUND HERE BUZZZZZING”
“Maybe it’s in your hat….CHECK YOUR HAT.”
No hearing aid.
“I STILL HEAR IT. RIGHT HERE.”
He then checked his pants pockets.
With absolute joy and appreciation he said “Look here. alright. Thank you”
Hearing Aide Found. Twas missing, not lost!

God Has A Way of Reminding Me How To Feel
God has a way of reminding me to feel.
As I sit here posting this photo, my mind takes me to a place I’ve avoided.
This very beautiful, immense, intense, ocean that we all love.
The wonderful sea breeze that we delight in.
The cool, refreshing wave that we splash in.
The salt and sand and surf.
That immense geological wonder of planet Earth…
can turn on us.
And now I grieve for my fellows all over the world.
Those suffering in the aftermath of natural disaster.
Those who have experienced and are experiencing the….pain.
And I ask God to help us all find Peace, not answers, just Peace.
For the Love of Beaches
